What fuels my love for instructional design? It’s the challenge of creating learning experiences that leave a lasting impact, elicit an emotional response, spark an idea or just connect the dots. Every project is like a fresh canvas where I can implement new ideas, or improve on existing ones, always striving to elevate the learning experience. My passion is building solutions that not only engage the audience but also immerses them in the content, making it more accessible and enjoyable. Using a wide array of design tools provides the opportunity to determine which best aligns with the desired learning outcome. With over 20 years of experience, my unique skill set rests on top of a strong knowledge of adult learning and instructional design. Regardless of the topic, industry or delivery method, I always keep the learners and their goals at the forefront of everything I do…and I’m ready to help your organization create something amazing!
Back in the day, I was working as a Consumer Affairs Rep at Snapple. If you happened to call 1-800-SNAPPLE a long time ago, you might’ve got me on the phone. There was a need in the department for someone to both create and facilitate an onboarding program for new reps. For some reason, the head of the department asked me if I had any interest in taking on this role. I guess she saw something in me. I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do career-wise, so I figured, hey that sounds interesting so why not? Little did I know that’s where my career in instructional design would begin, and I’ve never looked back! I will be forever grateful that I was given that opportunity.
Since that time, I have worked at a variety of organizations in different industries as both a designer and a leader. Along the way, I have met so many amazing individuals who have inspired me and taught me so much about learning and about myself. I have gained a wealth of invaluable skills to be more successful at work and in life. I am always willing to help other team members and ask for help as well. I love listening to ideas, and using my skills to bring those ideas to life! I take all feedback with an open mind and use it constructively to make improvements to my work. I’ve been through reorgs, takeovers and leadership changes…but through it all, I always strive to be energetic, innovative, creative, positive and most of all…have fun! Learning design is my passion and I’m ready to embark on the next leg of my journey.
Part of what I enjoy about this line of work is the ongoing exposure to new tools and applications, and learning more about the ones I’m already familiar with! I’m highly skilled in the following applications to design, test and produce the most effective learning solution for any given project.
